our story

This is me. I am the founder and creative director of Occult Creative. I am a Pratt Graduate and have worked in the design & advertising industry for 10+ years. I have “talent,” “drive,” and “experience”. But, I have accumulated many contacts over the years for no other reason than that I am a good, fair, competent person. I’ve always treated vendors and other creatives with respect, in an industry that is known for mistreating & using people for financial gain. I’ve bounced from agency to agency slowly paying my dues, yet never really gaining the respect or seniority I was after. And I slowly began to realize that when you’re a creative, you’re treated as a machine, and not as a mind. Many creatives feel disposable in this industry for that reason. 

So, I set out to create a humane design studio. 

A place where creatives are heard and have the freedom to work the way they want, from a space of their choosing. A remote design studio allows us to work with talent from all over the world. And in turn, remote working also saves us the overhead cost of an office which means attainable costs for the clients, while maintaining fair wages for the creatives. It also helps the environment by reducing the number of cars on the road, fossil fuel consumption, and energy usage. Our design studio also utilizes vendors that are woman-owned, immigrant-owned, BIPOC-owned, and local whenever humanly possible. It only takes us a little bit of extra effort and research - so why not do the right thing?

If you’re looking to work with an agency that has a big office, with a fancy address, then this studio is NOT for you. We are substance over style. Performance over pride. We’re working-class artists with experience in a trade, ready to get to work.
